The whole Eighth Avenue el from 116th to 155th Street, built from eleven ElevateIT! layouts, to ride from the motorman’s seat in your browser.
All 36 buildings on the east side of Eighth Avenue, W 142nd to W 148th St, as laser-cut kits in one 3D model, with the el and its trains down the middle of the avenue.
The first building from my 145th Street layout study assembled as a laser-cut kit: 2692 Eighth Avenue, Harlem, as it stood in 1940, built in 3D from its real cut files, with engraved brick panels and 608 glued-on stone parts. Turn it, explode it, and see it in raw MDF.
The 145th Street hump station on the Eighth Avenue el, worked up in ElevateIT! as an OO layout viewed from the west: real building heights, a cambered 1902-practice street, views from the front of the board, and an aligned plan and elevation for planning the baseboard joints of a 6.8 metre model.
Every tool page has been rewritten and re-illustrated, several now have something to try in your browser, and there’s a new video catalogue, About page and contact form.
A question on the Templot Club forum led to a new Make It Miniature app for modelling New York’s lost elevated railways. This post gives a short history of the els, then covers what ElevateIT! can do today and where it could go next.
